The best way to decide if Sompting Abbotts is right for your child is to come and meet us, tour the school and grounds, and spend some time getting to know our ethos, children and staff. There are a few ways you can do this:

Come to an Open Day

We hold Open Days twice a year in October and May.

Arrange a private visit

We operate an open door approach to prospective parents. You can see the school on a normal school day, meet teachers and observe lessons. Please fill in the form in the website footer to arrange your visit.

Book a taster day

We're always willing to have your child come for taster days to see if they feel they'll be happy with us. Your child will be shown around the school, allocated a buddy (which often expands to two or three!) and sample a home-cooked lunch.

Visit the Nursery and Pre-School

You’re welcome to visit with or without your child. If you decide you'd like your child to join, we're flexible about the number of days or half-days. Your child will normally attend two to three 'settling-in' sessions (no charge is made).

  • Many pupils leave us at the end of their Year 8 having achieved public school scholarships to leading independents. These include Lancing, Brighton and Hurst Colleges, Roedean, Sherborne, Winchester and Brighton Girls' School.
  • Others leave for their state secondary school well-prepared for their GCSEs ahead.
  • All our pupils take the Common Entrance Exam in Year 8.
  • The standard of work for Common Entrance in most subjects is in advance of a student’s academic age.
  • These are of a standard that give children a head-start for their GCSEs at their chosen next school, whether it's a state secondary or an independent.
